ML320, Looking for my S4
well for starters.... you will need a metal 2'' 3/4 pipe with a 90degree bend to connect from the maf to it.....

If your going to go this route look in the w210 section for custom intake.

If you do it as shown in the picture you will be sucking in hot air off the aux fan in traffic, you won't have ANY gains unless you remove your stock airbox, open it and gut all the fins outa it. Trust me, I've done it on a c43 box and its a PITA, your looking at about 2 hours of grind time

nah, use a highspeed dremel with cutting wheel and miniature planar, i could have that job knocked out in less than an hour.

onto my question. i have seen those fins inside the airbox, but assumed that MB wouldnt waste the time, or money, putting them in there unless they help direct the airflow for some kind of gain.

Then, why doesn't the RENNtech c/f box have any fins?

sounds like airplane
don't mess with your stock intake unless you are doing so for a real reason (ie- can't route your supercharger or turbo through it)

you mean swapping to the non-AMG style intake to get cooler air from the fender?

Or what exactly?

Leave that setup alone ,it's horrible and will heat soak. You want gains ,use the 320 setup MBenzman and myself are using. It's a cooler running setup than stock air wise.
You will have to mod it to a Ram air setup though to get the most out of it.
