Just curious if anyone has done the job on their own and could give some pointers on how and where it is.

Very easy, its under the car on the fuel tank side next to the fuel tank.

Undo the nuts that secure the protective plastic shield cover that you will see, I suggest to use wd40 on them and also the bracket that holds on the fuel filter. Get new clips for the fuel filter pipes also.

Took about 30mins with no specialist tools.

I found the fuel pump. It was under some plastic piece with 3 bolts. You say the fuel filter is next to it? Is it under the heat sheild for the exhaust? The drivers side rear right?

Thats it, the fuel filter is next to the pump, make sure you put the filter the right way round when you attach the pipes back on. Also start the car and check for leaks just to make sure its ok. It will take a few turns to start the engine when you replace with the new dry filter.

when reconnecting the pump, check the ends of the hoses that clamp onto the two ends of the fuel filter. sometimes the ends will get rough looking and mishapen. you can cut off 1cm or so and reconnect using the now fresh tube-end.

after you reconnect lines and are ready to fire up, cycle the key back and forth from the on to off position, so it can pump more fuel into the filter so you have good fuel pressure before you fire up.
