on another note...
people race b5 S4's because more were manufactured than all c36's and 43's combined. also, the resale value of audis is terrible (perhaps due to notorious reliability issues) so theyre much more affordable; and lastly, due to the fact that they come FI, you can coax more power out on a lower budget. none of these reasons make the b5 s4 a better track car IMO
yeah ...thats it !

While the AMG stays in tip top shape with no hiccups and just costs me routine FSS maintenance expenses with most as DIY items. And I keep my cars well-kept!
yup, E36s were money pits but B5s are still worse. few of my buddies have Audi B5 S4s and one of them is Stage 3+, he's put more money into the car than he actually paid for it years ago in repairs & mods. Great cars, and I have to admit the power from a stage 3+ B5 S4 is unreal, very unique in the way that car pulls.

Honestly though I'd still take an NA AMG any day of the week. Something about the way AMGs pull is 100% unique to them.

e36 M3 also a great car but just didn't have the torque the AMGs do. Consider yourself lucky you've only spent $2k on your E36, I spent almost 10x that lol.

AMG ftw

saw those pics, clean E55, those are starting to grow one me

btw doesn't that C36 have designo logo on its floor mats, I remember seeing pictures of it on club202

and if designo styline wasn't offered on mercs before the new style s class then how do you explain the designo c43, Ive seen a green, blue, and orange one

i think that interior is hideous- I can definitely get all pumped about how cool the really rare color combinations are and appreciate them a lot. However, would you really want one? I'll stick to silver with the white/black 2-tone over any of the others.

it isn't that there weren't designo- just not in the states.

black\white interior on a c43 is definitely hot, you don't see white leather in a merc to often, but that orange is like being in..............a candy world

OK, I posted an image of the Data Card for my DesignoC36 on the AMG private lounge site. I'm a bit bummed out that they say it's not a *real* Designo although I have documents proving otherwise. Should be interesting to see what they say now

It was for sale but after getting the car fully serviced; head gasket/engine/trans/brakes, I fell in love with it again

I'll most likely keep her for the long haul.

For what it is worth, I had designo poplar wood trim on my C55, however that was the only thing designo about it. I think to claim a designo badge it has to have the full treatment which yours appears to have.

I was gone when the auction ended on the C36 however I wasn't sure I was even willing to pay 6500 as I would have another 1000 on top of that in transport and am pretty sure the reserve was probably within 1-200 of his buy it now.

Oh well. He can list it again and watch it go to 5-6K and stop. Looks nice but the market prolly can't get much worse. I hope...

from what i can recall, i think the original owner of your car is/was an executive for mb here... he had that shipped straight from germany if i remember the story right. are you the 3rd owner? i remember he sold it to somebody.

and yes, that's a designo!

sounds like airplane
perhaps it wasn't intentionally marketed as such to the states or this car wasn't intended to come here?

the fact that it has changed hands here though makes that seem unlikely.

Hmm, that sounds about right. How did you know? Do you remeber other pats of the story? I'm trying to research the car's history.

Thanks!
