Difference between C36 engine and C280 engine?
Any knowledge of what should be change in order for a C280 engine upgrade to a C36 amg engine? Since they are the same engine...im really interested in upgrading the engine if its possible.

If you mean changing your 2.8L to a 3.6L, you will have to bore out the engine displacement to 3.6. Also change the exhaust mainfold to the magnesium coated one, and I think the cams too. Then you will have to upgrade to ECU for the parameter setting change, so that the car will have the same settings as the C36.
I think that you could get a whole C36 or a C43 enigine, ECU and tranny for a good price. I say tranny b/c you would want the 97+ 5 speed tranny, especially if you get a C43. I've seen a few on Ebay and if you have the resources, definitely worth it. If you have about 5K you could do it all!
Also, consider what you car is worth. If you can sell your car or trade for a C36/C43 and not pay that much out of pocket, then heck yeah.
Good luck

from my prev post...
the engines were hand-built, with modified rods, forged aluminum pistions in bigger sleeves to provide 10.5:1 compression ratio vs 10.0:1 for the normal c280. took s350 turbodiesel crankshaft and specially machined it and balanced it, putting out 3.6 liters instead of 2.8. enlarged cylinder-head ports, used sodium-filled exhaust valves, amg intake camshaft with greater lift, e320 intake manifold (larger-diameter and variable-length), low-pressure exhaust system, and basically the whole computer was reprogrammed. installed heavier-duty differential used in current/old e-class w210 to avoid final-drive failure. additional oil-spray jets installed on engine block.
so which part of that were u planning on tackling ....if u get the whole engine instead, get one with a 97 spec...slightly more hp and one extra gear, which imo, is highly needed.
