Anyone know what size the factory speakers are in my 95 C36? Can I just hook up an aftermarket deck to the existing speakers or do I need to by pass a factory amp? How do I get the factory deck out in the first place?? Thnakx

I am not 100% sure, but I think that the stereo is hooked up to the speakers and amp with fiber optic lines. I've been told that you cannot just hook up an aftermarket unit b/c of it.

I think that the front doors can hold 4.5 inch speakers and the rear doors can hold 6.5 inch. Your rear deck also are 6.5 subs.

Actually in a '95 it is not fiber optic. Only the later cars were so equipped. The front doors are designed for 5.25 in but if you remove the plastic speaker mount from the door and cut the back you can fit a 6.5in. I am currently running Boston Acoustic 6.4pros in the front using the factory dash mount for the tweeter. Same speakers in the rear deck (without tweeters) for fill and a sealed box using JL audio 12 in subs in the trunk. And no I do not bump, thump or boom.

Let me clear this up

The only Fiber optic connection on newer MB car up to 2002 is the signal cable from the Headunit to the CD changer
the connection from the headunit to the amp, and amp to the speaker still using regular copper wires...

The C36 is original equipped with Bose sound system

The front door housed a special acustic design 4" woofer.
Although if you remove this speaker with the housing, the hole in the front door can hold 6.5" mid bass

The rear door is also 4"

The speaker on the rear deck all are 6.5" (2 6.5" midrange and 1 6.5" bass unit on Bose system)

Now regarding putting aftermarket stereo with the OEM amp is possible
except you need to purchase special adapter to for this...

You need VEN 4,5 out of this page

http://peripheralelectronics.com/2002/loc.asp#premium

I would not recommend connecting the Bose speaker directly to the aftermarket headunit, since Bose speaker were wired in unsually configuration from the Amp (2 ohm)

Hope this helps.
