No need to get defensive here, I don't believe I have attacked anyone or have called anyone a liar. I was a tad confident that this is odd, however, I've provided evidence and personal experince as to why. Absolutley no arguments here just curiosity. I'm honestly really interested as to why my rear fog circuit and headlight fogs cannot be illuminated at the same time. I always thought this was normal as I became partial to it with my 300E. Then John also confirmed, although as stated before he also has a C36. I'm thinking that MY fogs may not be wired correctly. I feel it is unfair to put this to rest until we figure out if this is just a subtlety distinguished by period or I do indeed have a wiring issue. Which also means that my wiring had been toyed with previous to my purchase . I hope you understand why I am being so persistant. I appreciate the kind words btw .
If Jovsky can confirm, I'll be convinced that either the setups differ due to year and or HID's or (I hope not) my wiring is faulty .

Okay guys, I am attaching here my manual similar to 503C43's set up and to confirm Appatula's curiosity as to why ALL of our 3-bulbs can turn ON at the same time together with the Rear Fog Light.
Appatula, I believe there is nothing wrong with your car's wiring specification as proven in your manual.
Take note in the image that states: Rear Fog Lamp (pull out to 2nd detent) in addition to fog lamps. Yellow indicator lamp in lamp switch comes on.

That picture is worth a thousand words, and MANY MANY posts!!!!
Greatly appreciate you spending the time to scan that in Jovsky. Not only proves the difference in operation, but also puts my worries to rest. Thanks for sticking with this till the "proper" end guys .
Soooo......back to the apron fog repair? haha.

Thanks, Ben.
Curiously, only one side of my foglights didn't work. After reading this thread it clicked, went out and did mine in like 5 minutes. Especially because I had a 20/30A relay handy, literally on my desk.
Works now.

I was tired of having the rear fog light up with the apron fogs, I put a strip of electrical tape over the contact on the bulb for the rear foglight for the element so it doesnt get voltage. quick and simple and no bulb warning light either

This write-up was of great value in the first page DIY about light faults. (Thanks appatula, if you're still out there.) I have the same red C36 and spent all day trying to find the reason my fog and apron fog lights would not illuminate after the bulb replacement did not work and multi-meter indicated no juice. In my case, the relay was entirely missing from the circuit as somehow it came off?
PS: The other three pages of debate over switches should be moved/deleted. It's this type off-topic chat which made the other 3 hours of searching online a useless effort. JMO.

I have a 1998 C43 and have 3 bulbs in my headlight. low beam, high beam and parking/corner lights.
My left/driver side fog light doesn't work. I went to change the bulb but just wiggling the wiring harness and the bulb works again. But after driving around it stops working and stays off even though the right side works all the time (albeit with a cracked lens).
I may have to fix the wires inside the harness or the contact points as the first post here.
But I'd like to add that my high beams are a different bulb and next to my low beams. I do not have 2 different sets of fog lights in front. Just the pair in the lower valence of the bumper.

OK. I thought I was reading about this. My rear fog light seems to be out. I need to go buy a new multi-meter today to test, any suggestions?
My front passenger fog light is also acting a lil wacky too. I might disassemble that one too.

Anyone know the part number for the wiring harness that attaches from the headlight to the fog light in the lower bumper/apron for a C43?
Mine looks different than the original post.
