Somewhere along the chain of previous owners of my C36, there was a genius who put a short ram intake on the car. No heatshield, no nothing. just a ****ty filter on a ****ty pipe to lose out on power.
So, I am in the process of restoring to a quieter\smarter setup to the stock intake with a drop-in filter.
is the plastic housing the same between a C280 and a C36? Or maybe even the C220\C230 ones fit?
Also, does anyone have this for sale?
And finally, one of the members on here (AMGC?) has a very fancy carbon-fiber looking true-ram that funnels from the grille and th headlight area. What is the filter, how much is it and how well does it work?

The OEM filter housing "box" is the exact same as the C280/C230K etc.. BUT, the intakes before the filter housing is different from the rest,, The C36 has 2 intakes one at the top and another at the bottom fender, leading up to the filter box. If you put the C280 intake on a C36, you will lose major power. But if you only add on the box, you are fine.

Yeah saw that. And Simota doesn't seem to make them anymore. Ouch. Do NOT have that kind of money to spend on funnels.
Oh well. Ordered a generic cone filter 'helmet visor' heat shield. If not that, will fabricate one from sheetmetal and paint it.
I guess I have the HKS mushroom filter, which is a good unit. Just got back from prep-ing and POR-15 treating the filter mesh.
