Broken mirror mechanism
I came back from a overseas business trip to find that someone broke my
driver side mirror hinge in the parking lot.
The metal spring loaded arm is broken inside, and just flappy.
I guess I should think I'm lucky that the frick'n idiot driver only hit my
mirror and scratched a small part of my door. Could of been much worse.
As some of you may know, I just recently purchased my C43, and I
replaced the driver side mirror. So, ironically this is the one part of the car
that I know very well on how it works and how to replace.
Took the mirror off today during lunch.
Does anyone know if I can simply get a regular W202 mirror, or need a
C43 one specifically? I know some models didn't come with the heated
mirror, but can I use a non-AMG mirror and simply insert the connectors,
or are they a completely different unit?

I'm fairly certain that the mirror housing is shared with pre-facelift W210 E-class cars. I think you should be okay with sourcing replacements that way, and the supply is relatively plentiful, as opposed to, say, a C43 front bumper. If I remember right, the part number on the thing starts with '210' (I had my mirrors off and apart when I had the car painted).
