very poor mileage!
i am getting very bad mileage, 12 mpg on the last tank.
what the heck is going on?
check engine light came on and the code reader said egr
could a bad egr valve cause such bad mileage?
i have all tires properly inflated, no excess weight,
so whats up?

Faulty MAF or gas leak somewhere? Or you forgot to take off your cast iron shoes

Did you get this fixed? How many miles are on the car? Most of the time its an 02 sensor with higher miles (100,000+) these going bad will cause very bad gas mileage and check engine light for sure. However, your code states EGR failed right? If its the EGR valve you car should have some issue when stopped and in gear (Vibration or odd idle) This fault can be caused by a lot of short trip or mainly city driving. I know on the W210 there was a way to clean the part and it saved some people money. Do a search over there and see what comes up and find a trust worthy MB tech in your area that wont charge you $120 bucks just to say hello.

I know there are 4 on the C43 but not sure about the C36, I would bet there are four. They are about $120 each. I hope you just need one.

Lucky for us there are only 2 o2 sensors, one before the cat and one after.
Here they are at autopartsway:

get the code.
O2 sensor- change the upstream one and leave the other one alone till it throws a code- it's just there to test cat function, does not control mixture.

Almost the same price as the EGR valve so either way, you shouldnt be out too much.

All the parts listed as OEM are OEM. If not then it states alternate brand. I've used this site for years and can say they are the best on the web!

I didn't like Mintex pads myself, not much cold torque- then again I tried them on my 911 and a BMW-
Benz could be different. Low dust tho.
