C43 '55' swap thread

As per my understanding 113.986 engine should have 360hp from the crank. Are you getting them? Perhaps ecu on your C43 is A0265453132 (newer and better than mine) and it was re-coded with SDS to factory C55 tune?
After fitting the engine, I had a chance to drive in stock W208 CLK55AMG, and my C felt 20-30% weaker. Otherwise- engine was running well
Replacing MAF and switching to S500 tune made both cars feel in the same ballpark.
I'm just trying to get the original 113.986 tune into C43 ecu to make sure that the engine runs to it's full potential. Any advice about it would be great

"026 545 29 32" & "026 545 30 32" & "026 545 31 32",
all those Bosch "ECU/ME2.0" #s have exactly the same file/ROM & E-prom, which is "FD/26R01", firmware #: "98M10/FB99",,
no difference between them..!
00-02 S55 113.986 Engine is exactly the same with all N/A 5.4L from 98-02,
also sharing the same Bosch "ECU/ME2.8", with "W210 E55 & W208 CLK55",
and all of them have the same E-prom/file code #: "FD/31R10", firmware #: "01M10/FT08",,
don't use S500 ECU with 5.4L Engine, cause it has differ timing, and differ MSG/RPM limiter..!!

Your reply explains why some C43 ecus might not run too well with 5.5 engines- they are just too old) Like my 023 545 6932. Its Hardware Status is 18/96)) Thanks!
I was trying to activate C55 mapping with version coding numbers 003905058, 099900058 etc in my old original ecu 023 545 6932 - the codes are not accepted. It only accepted E55 coding (002005057).
Since I did not find 0265453132 or 0295453132 ECU in Sharjah yet, I'm trying to get software from these control units and write it into my old ecu or into 0265456832 ( lots of them in scrapyards)
If you could suggest a software provider or where I could get the used 0265453132, would be really great!
I agree that running 113.986 with S500 ecu and mapping is not the right thing- but surprisingly in my situation it gives the better performance comparing to 023 545 6932.
Do you think that 0265453132 and 0295453132 (S55amg with 113.986) has the same performance mapping?
Also, how does the 113.986 gets higher compression ratio comparing to 113.980 or 113.984? I also checked that pistons, crank, conrod, engine block have the same part numbers. Is it just different cylinder head gaskets?
Thanks again for your input,
Stan

Thanks bro. & Eid Mubarak..,
"029 545 31 32" won't fit to C43, cause it's "ME2.8"..!,
these're the only correct part #s for 98-01 "C43/CLK55/E55" with ECU/ME2.0:-
"022 545 12 32" & "023 545 50 32" & "023 545 69 32" &"026 545 29 32" & "026 545 30 32" & "026 545 31 32",
C43 stock ECU will works great with any 5.4L, it has the same timing/angle & same injector flow/rates,
the only difference with rotational RPM, C43 uses smaller diff. than CLK55/E55, it's saved on the C43 TCU/map,
that's the reason why will forcing RPM limitation due to WOT,
no any difference with all #s of "ME2.0", and S55 sharing the same Engine with all 98-02 5.4L, and S55 ECU always comes as "ME2.8",
can't install S55 ECU, have to get ECU from 98-00 "C43/CLK55/E55" only,,
S500 has differ mapping/fuel rates/timing than 5.4L, what ever results, it's not correct set up..!!

So, thanks to Zayed - I managed to install best version of the stock ECU to my 1997 C43 - 0265453132.
By entering 099905058 version coding number with Star Diagnosis- I've activated S202 C55AMG factory mapping and CAN communication.
To make sure that car has factory performance level, I've done several 1/4mile runs with Dragy and got an average result of 13.8@168kmh due to poor grip from my old tires. The same results are achieved by factory W208 CLK55
For me it seems that not all C43 ECUs are created equal- my original ecu 0235456932 did not accept the C55 version coding, because it was too old. Engine was sluggish on factory coding.
Really appreciate all of the support and knowledge from people in this topic.

The idea now is to extend the clk55 pickup tube lower and plug the 2nd pickup holes but if that dosent work i may have to look into making the c43 pump fit. It was popey24 i believe, and I drove the car a little bit with the clk55 pump on. holy **** its awesome, i need to feather the pedal in second now because 1st gear is useless and 2nd gear is also close to useless. Theres so much power down low i cant wait to get this up to speed and hear it scream at the 6700 redline.
I am doing a 55 swap from a w209 and i am now in the same problem as you. Pumps don't align. Did a plug in the 2nd pickup tube worked? How did you resolve the issue?
Any info would be great

2001 CLK55 engine >>> 1999 C43
Hi everybody! First off thanks to all of you for so much awesome info through the YEARS! What an amazing community.
I have a 1999 C43 (M113.944) the best engine I have found and was planning to swap in is from a 01’ CLK55 (M113.984). Donor engine has 80K miles on it, comes “complete”. I wanted to check in with everybody before I pull the trigger and buy it.
To my understanding here is what I have to do:
Remove M113.944
Replace wear items on M113.984/in engine bay (long list of sensors/electrical wear items, any deteriorated hoses, moving parts (water pump), I didn’t plan to crack open the engine beyond valve cover gaskets, I will send fuel injectors to RC Fuel Injection in Torrance for cleaning/inspection)
Transfer TB from .944 to .984 (Because .984 is ME2.8 and my C43 is ME2)
Retain .944 Harness in situ
Install .984
Boot up XENTRY/DAS/HTTWIN check everything out make sure its happy
Drive car for a little while (20miles?)
Boot up XENTRY/DAS/HTTWIN check everything out make sure its happy
Thats is right yal?
Some notes:
I have a newly rebuilt transmission (722.631) already in the car from Sun Valley Mercedes Transmission, not even 200 miles on it yet! They used the uprated steel input shaft and some other good healthy parts, I forget what others besides the shaft he said but it shifts wonderfully.
At first hung here and there not shifting smoothly - I figured out it was because of a bad Throttle Position Sensor. Replaced with Mercedes part and then it was perfect!
One bonus question: Will it pass smog with the new .984 installed? Does the computer even tell the smog guys?
Thank you all ahead of time for your generous help!!
- M
P.S. As is customary, I attached a photo of the car. It’s a little rough around the edges but its getting painted soon! (Same stock black) Just had the headliner done and I spent a week in the upholstery shop (Thomas Tops in Hollywood) diagnosing the multi-contour seats myself. Bad PSE pump (god that pump was $$$) and four blown bladders replaced later….and they now work perfectly.

I doubt you need to worry about the Xentry/DAS checks. If everything is done correctly it will work just fine.
And now the slippery slope...
WIth the 5.4 the ESP will light up constantly. Adding a Wavetrak limited slip is a big improvement.
With the Wavetrak keeping the ESP in check you'll realize how slow the 722.6 shifts...

As stated. No checks or test drives necessary. You're correct on TB swap I think. Otherwise just put it in and go. Will pass smog, won't change a single thing except make it feel significantly faster. I measured 0-60 on 4.8s in mine.
And yes your C43 trans is fine. The trans in mine was original with 297k miles on it, but it was regularly maintained. I have 25k miles on it now with the 5.4 swap and I drive it extremely hard. Red line shifts every day. No problems.
