HID deals

This joint:

http://www.hidextra.com/

is supposed to be flogging HID conversion kits for $30 with free shipping, come midnight 25 November, for the 'mercan 'Black Friday' deals. I think I may pick up a set for the LR3's foglights.

Just off topic - we don't have Black Friday deals in Canada...much to do with our Thanksgiving being in October. But instead we have Boxing Day (or Week) sales. Everyone gets up early and piles into the malls for deals after Christmas. Interestingly, I hear that retailers in communities just over the border (eg, Bellingham, WA) are catering more and more to Canadian shoppers - both for Black Friday and potentially for Boxing Day. I'm heading down for some cross border shopping in January, I hope they have January sales!

Guess I'm not following your "Canadian" English, sorry. But what do you mean by "come midnight Nov 25"? Do you mean that shipping is free until then? or starting then?

Oh, and btw, it seems the HID kit is $59.99, not $30.

Apparently the sale starts at midnight tonight! I know it says the kits are $60, but my understanding is that they will be $30 starting on 26 November.

You sure it starts and not ends at midnight? The website is not very clear about this. Looking at the countdown timer, it seems that the sale ends at midnight, hence the pressure rush w/ the timer, no?

My computer shows these at $29.99 and free shipping. Hm I wonder if they are worth it?

I went ahead and ordered a set for lows and fogs anyway. If I don't like them ill sell them on craigslist, I am sick of having to turn my headlights on 10 times before they both come on. If this fixes that issue for 59 bucks shipped, ill be a very happy man!!!

I went with 35W 6k lows and 3k fogs.

My current setup is China specials 55W 8k's that came with the (turn me on 20 times before I work) option!!!

I picked up a set as well, but went with 5K for lows. Not sure if I can do HID conversion for my fogs, nor am I sure if I want that anyway, since turning on my apron fogs means my rear fog light turns on as well (which I don't want). Anyway, I'll probably just go w/ a set of PIAA 5K bulbs for my fogs later on to match the HID lows. I figure I can't go wrong for $30 shipped!

Just ordered a few things myself - too cheap to pass up! But all for my other cars - 6000K bulbs for my S2000 and the wife's LR3, plus a slim ballast HID conversion kit for the LR3's fogs. Woot!

Thought about it, and just bought another set of D2S bulbs for spares. No matter if they aren't no-name - at the current pricing, you can't go wrong.

Try ddmtuning.com I have purchased a set of 3000k bulbs from them and no issues what so ever. Their kits start from $25 and go up from there. Im on a lexus forum as well and we all usually buy our kits from them.

Who wants to be the test dummy for these?

First link are the slims in 35w or 55w or an extra $10 bucks, making them $45 total.
http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W

Cheaper option in both 35w and 55w, 55w adds $10 again and puts you at $35 bucks total.

If the bulbs I bought dont work out, I think I am going with these listed below. By the time ive tried two or three other brands, they would add up to these anyway AND there is a member here who has tested and said he recommends them.

austin,
be sure to take some pictures and maybe write a review for all of the kits and bulbs you are testing!

As soon as I get them I will take them out to my parents house in the country and install/picture them for you all. I am a little sad to be going from 55w to 35w but if they work right I don't care. Im also backing down from the 55w 8k to 35w 6k, so the light output shouldn't be such a huge difference.

Disconnect the wiring to the rear foglight bulb and/or pull the bulb.

Naw just pull the RearFog fuse under the hood.

Much easier to undo, plus you don't lose a tailight

Next silly question, and slightly OT. Not sure if C43 halogen (non-HID) headlamps are the same as those of the C36, but are the low and high beams the same bulb or two separate bulbs? Because I just realized that if they are the same bulb, I may have ordered the wrong HIDs, as I selected "low" only.

The C36s have two, one for high and one for low. To get the correct HID setup we would have to order their BI-XENON HID kit at $150.00 which would replace both bulbs. I too just ordered the low and the fog set. Unless I'm mistaken, after installation we should have HID low beams and OEM high beams.

Also while we're on the topic of headlight/foglights, I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

If I try and turn my low (2nd click) fogs on while my parking or headlights are on, the stupid knob comes off the light switch! If no lights are on I can pull it to second stop then turn whatever set of lights on no problem, but if I pull too hard or if I have to pull harder because the lights are on, the black knob will just come off. This is actually my second light switch/knob because I bought a spare to try and fix this. Ever happen to anyone else??? Is this just poor mercedes engineering, or is something just warn off my switch/knob

Odd.. I don't have that problem but then again I have a C43 and there seems to be some differences when it comes to the lighting and such. I would assume that you have the same knob as the C43s do

What "fog set" did you order? And btw, having HIDs for low only, with OEM halogen highs is fine by me. That's how my lighting is set up for my M3. And now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen HID high beams?

I have HID low and stock halogen high beams and it works out great. I am not sure if there are HID high beams....

HID lows and fogs here with stock highs. Work perfect the very few times I need to use the highs.
