My indi tech here got it for me whole sale. I buy almost all OEM parts through him. MUCH cheaper. I paid $200 for the parts and labor.

They sent me the w210 size and I'm pissed. They light up but don't fit right. I'm going to try some cutting on the lights and see if they will go in....

That sucks. I was worried that those kinds that come already in the plastic casing wouldn't fit as well as the OEM lights, so i just went ahead and bought just the LED bulb. Measured mine and 36mm should be the right fit.. I'll post pics once they get here.

The LED units will work - remove them from the 210 units. The old bulb contacts can be removed. There is small tab on each light bulb contact that you can depress with a small common head screwdriver.

I mounted the module from inside the trunk and used the old housing.

They're Here!

Here's how they came out, just had to swap the bulbs and clean up the faded plastic on the mounting unit. My only complaint is that I had to slightly tilt the LED bulb, which is like a flat rectangle, to fit the entire unit back in. But all in all it came out great! Compare the new lights to the one in the trunk, that's the difference.

P.S. I'm picking up my new black plates this week too, so that should help the "updated" effect a bit more

Actually, I'm in Austin. I don't go up to Dallas very often, but anytime you're in the UT area I know some other C class owners that I meet up with.

Black license plates, the Texas ones with the star on the left look really good when matched with a black car. And I wouldn't say avoid them, cause mine came out fine, just be sure you know what you're buying online.

I just got my LED lights for my "parking lights" and licences plate lights, they sent me the wrong ones. I am in process of getting some new ones, I might go with a different company as the ones they sent me were pretty cheesy looking...

How the hell do you change out the license plate bulbs?? Do I really have to remove the carpeting from the trunk!!??!?!?!

The WIS seems to be only showing the pre face lift W202 as it is only showing 1 bulb and I have 2.

I tried removing the 2 screws on the rear plate that houses the bulbs but there is one in the middle that cannot be removed as it has no head (i.e phillips or flat head).

I have had these LED bulbs for months and still have yet to install them

Yes, you have to remove the carpeting. If you think it's hard to change the license plate bulbs, don't even bother with the vanity bulbs.

Here is the finished result:

LED rear plate lights for bucks!-license-plate-lights.jpg

I think I got some good LEDs as they seem to light up the whole plate as opposed to others I have seen that don't seem to light up the middle of the plate to well

Why do you want your plate bulbs brighter. So the cops can see your license plate better when the pull you over?

The exact opposite...

to prevent from getting pulled over for having "dirty" or "non functioning" license plate lights. Don't know how the cops work around your neck of the woods but around here if they can't see your plate, you get pulled over.

So the other 99.99% of people in OR with regular license plate bulbs don't get pulled over for "dirty license plate bulbs" but some how they pick you out. Sounds like the cops in your neck of the woods are bored and have it in for you. Try this:
NO FRONT PLATES
MODIFIED EXHAUST (LOUD)
TINTED FRONT WINDOWS
RADAR DETECTOR MOUNTED TO WINDSHIELD
TOO LOW BUMPER HEIGHT
ROSARY BEADS HANGING FROM REAR VIEW MIRROR
FEMALE PASSENGER(S) WITHOUT CLOTHES
Guess what, after 40 years of driving...no getting stopped or tickets for any of them and I live in a police state. Not to say I haven't been pulled over for other chicken s h i t fix it tickets, like barely expired tags, burnt out headlight/tail light. But dirty license plate bulbs???. Even the CHP has got better things to do. The only thing that pisses me off is people that live in Cali but register their cars in states with fake addresses like OR with minimal tag fees to avoid the $650 a year I pay here.
If they can't read these maybe they are not qualified for the job.

NICE PORSCHE!!!

But yes the cops do single certain car types out (it's called profiling, for example the cops won't pull over a 1995 ford escort with "dirty" plate lights but they will pull over a riced out Honda for the exact same "dirty" plate light) and having the license plate lit up just eliminates one more possible excuse they have to pull me over

Oh and I forgot to mention:
NO FRONT PLATES
MODIFIED EXHAUST (LOUD)
ALL WINDOWS TINTED 20% (35% is legal)
TOO LOW BUMPER HEIGHT

Got any vids of the P-car in action???

I feel for you then bro. A mini van at 80 mph has less of a chance of a ticket than a 6 banger Mustang at 70mph. I always thought C43 were very stealthy, only the well informed knows what evil lays below the skin. Perhaps its just your just another rich guy with a MBZ/BMW/Audi/etc that gets them attracted. Gotta get a cam mount to get some good vids soon. I'm too busy figuring out the right tune for it now that I've got the suspension sorted out.
