I was reading the 55 swap thread below and had this question, but didn't want to thread jack. Anyway, just wondering if it would be a good idea to put in a rebuilt e55 trans in a stock c43 when the stock trans decides to give up the ghost. Is the e55 trans more durable?

Having read some info around here and elsewhere, I thought that the 766 boxes came in 2 type torque levels. I imagine both 43 and 55 use the same type box. The weak point in the 43 was a bearing which would fail. MB updated the bearing starting in 99' but not 100% sure.
