Trans?

I currently own a '95 C36 and I have been looking at a very nice '96 SL500 that has 95k, very well cared for too! My 4spd trans has been very dependable. Does the '96 Sl500 utilize the same trans as the 97+ C36's? I hear a lot of scary stuff about the newer 5spds and should I not move forward with an offer? Need any honest advise one can give.

Thx!

96-97 C36 uses: 722.629 & 96-98 SL500 uses: 722.620, both got a 580nm & sharing the same Valva body & some clutchs "K1-B2" ,, but of course they got

a different housing & different Converter, "V6 vs V8",,

i like the 722.6 trans., its more reliability performance & fully Electronic brain adjustable & balancing by a module(EGS/TCU),,

the 96/98 SL500 uses an M119.98 Engine, which needs more careful & more expensive parts than the M113,,

if you like to have the SL version..?,, you can go with 99/2001 SL500 or SL55 AMG, including the Silver Arrow Editions as well,, they’r the perfect models

with simply M113 Engine like our Engines, with more power & of course simply easy servicing job.......

ZAYED,,
