Today I travelled over my favourite alpine pass climbing to 2'500m. Drove "T Rex" like I had the posse on my heels and little traffic enabled speeds which are better not mentioning. The weather was very hot like it has been these last few days with around or over 35°c. She ran faultlessly except I had the transmission on overload and was jerky sometimes. Engine temperature was around 90°s so that was OK.
However, I did have a small problem with probably the intake. From time to time, with the window down (yes I like the sound....) I could smell raw gas pretty hard. It was strong to the extent I thought it could be a hose leaking
The smell disappeared on the way down the other side (my drilled rotors and yellow EPC pads worked a treat ALL the time and you can hear the pads grinding into the rotor). Just wanted to know if anybody experienced this type of (bad) smelly conditions or if it was just a freak thing. Checked the car all over when cooled down, no leaks or smells. I wonder if it could be the fuel tank overflow charcoal filter being saturated, even if the tank was 3/4 empty
Oh, I should add that the KW suspension is really tops despite some poor road surfaces over the pass and a back boot full of pieces and tools

As for the cameras, I prefer not to film because if the police get to see it they can fine me for dangerous driving

ah ok I understand, I'm sure your filters and maf are clean, but I suggest checking them if you keep smelling gas.Originally Posted by DRBC43AMG
