Drove a 2012 E-Class and a 2011 C-Class Recently, Not as Nice as my W202

I work at Porsche and have driven many different cars over the years, We often get part ex cars in etc.

Today I drove a 2012 E-Class and it is a very nice car, can tell its a Mercedes, but its not a touch on my W202 I find Mercedes of yesteryear so much better quality and a smoother ride, same goes for the new C-Class I drove, nice car but give me my w202 any day

the w202 seems to more of a drivers car, that might be the reason why we prefer it. built quality was great on the 202 I'm going for a testdrive in a 2012 c63 AMG this weekend(maybe some other amg models) dealer invited me I'll post my opnion soon.

I look forward to hearing your impressions. I have a C63 and a C36 so a foot in both camps.
My comments: The C63 in brutally quick, the C36 deceptively quick. Torque in the C63 is massive from low RPM, its likes to rev but not as much as the C36. You feel the weight of the C63 in corners and under brakes much more than the C36. The Gearbox difference is huge, the C63 is leaps and bounds ahead. I would love to try a 7 speed tiptronic gearbox on a C36 to keep the revs up in the sweet area.

I drove a 2013 P31 C63 fully loaded the other month. I liked everything about it except 1) the weight 2) all the electronic gizmos. I'm sold on the car, but I'm gonna get one without that braking assist, lane assist crap.

FWIW, all of my euro-mechanic buddies swear by the 80's-mid 90's Benz's for quality and strength. I'm talking professionals, not of the shade-tree variety. They are unanimous in saying how solid the build quality is on our cars. "Built like a Panzer tank" is how one guy described it best.
