I used to be able to find the underdrive pully for sale on Eurocharged but, their website went down. Is there another website that sells pullys for c43's

Never knew Eurocharged made them too. It's Evosport usually.

Maybe we could try to do a group buy if enough people are interested. I sure would be!

I think they still sell non under drive crank pulleys, a buddy of mind bought one from German power tuning and was happy with it, but I have never used one myself so I cannot comment directly.

AMS sells Crank pulley if I recall correctly. Evosport does the underdrive. For some reason, I think I read some bad stories with the crank pulley.

Can the two be combined or absolutely not? If yes, any benefit of running both?

I thiiiink they are usually cheaper than the site I posted. I would ask 503, he has them and I think he did a dyno on them. They're not really going to add any power, but make for a quicker revving engine. I'd be interested if they were a bit cheaper.

AMS pulleys are pretty notorious on here, but they're out of business anyway. Just search "AMS Pulleys" on the 36/43 section and read away. To be clear this is a different AMS than the makers of the the Alpha turbo cars.
I imagine they'd be combined, if the Evosport kit doesn't already include a crank pulley. Just have to worry about the vibrations and all sorts of fun stuff when doing a crank pulley, not so much with other ones.

I have the evosport UD pulleys installed. They did add a little power but as stated previously the real gain was the quicker revs. Check out my baseline dyno thread for the power figures.

I dont think vivid racing carries the pulley anymore. I wonder if another company will start making them for our c43's. I tried to buy it on vivid racing it says the product isn't available.

I'd give them a call. I doubt anyone will start making them for the M113, but I find it hard to believe they stopped making them, seeing as it's still a fairly popular platform (C55s, E55s, all the 55k engines (though I imagine some may be different) plus they are probably similar if not the same for the M112 V6s as well)

Did some more research, apparently the company that bought AMS, has a new version of the pulley. I believe they are called German Power tuning.

As long as the aftermarket crank pulley is stock diameter then you should have no issues as the evosport belt should work fine. Both will yield the best results. Crank pulleys themselves are not bad as long as they are installed properly, but if you don't install them properly... Watch out haha. That's shops fault though that installed it

I'm quite surprised someone spent actual money on that company...

I have an AMS crank pulley on my 203 C55 and have to agree with ML, it seems that most of the issues I've seen (at least from the 203 55's I read about) could potentially be blamed on a bad install. I swapped mine myself; once I got the stock pulley off I got VERY nervous about making sure the WAY too short crank snout key was seated properly! Very pleased so far and no issues...I keep an eye out for pulley wobble because I'm paranoid about my baby

I swapped the stock intake for a Needswings SLK55 DCAI at the same time on a gamble it would fit (it did with kevlar clk intake tubes). I can't give you dyno #'s or 1/4 mile results for just the crank pulley, but with both the DCAI and the crank pulley my 1/4 time dropped from an at-the-time best of 12.489 to 12.345.

I have some used but NIB Evosport UDP's sitting around that should be installed in a few weeks as well. Very impressed with their quality , I can update with my 1/4 mile results if you'd like. Unfortunately though, it seems that Evosport has gone belly up (?), their website has been down for at least a month. If you still want them you might have to wait until someone sells a used set.

Good luck!

So this "crank pulley" and "underdrive pulley" everyone keeps mentioning, is that just a lightweight replacement for the harmonic balancer?

If so, I'd be very afraid of it. The chief reason for the harmonic balancer being so heavy is to smooth out vibrations and impacts that occur in the crank and cylinders. You'd think that if you took away this protection you'd be increasing wear and tear on irreparable engine internals. If I am dead wrong about this, someone please stop me. Because I'd love that faster-rev I keep hearing about. That's my only complaint about my M113! Revs slower than the M104 in my E320.

The Underdrive Pulley kit includes smaller pulleys for all the accessories, but does not include a crank pulley. This basically "under drives" the accessories, and therefore the engine has to spend less energy running the A/C and such.

Supposedly, the lightweight crank pulley is engineered so that it still has all the correct (or almost all I imagine) properties so it cancels the vibrations as it should. This can be a very risky upgrade if the lw crank is not engineered properly, hence why many people have warned to stay away from AMS, but if done right it's a legit upgrade imo

(Jason 503) & I, got the UD pulleys from "Evosport", but we don't have lightweight Crank Pulley like AMS,,

im fully agree with "nd4spd13",, Crank Pulley soo sensitive, MB Engineered it to counted the weight of the Crank mass rotation,

play with it = big headache to you & to the Engine RPM, its also can causes some interrupting to the CPS sensor while a bad start

emission & full open to the throttle(WOT),,

in my opinion; UD pulleys, which is (Alternator+Steering+Water pump) is great idea & safest way for upgrading

the rotation weight.....

Correct, I do not have the crank pulley. I did a bunch of research and it seemed to iffy. The crank pulley is an important part and could cause A LOT of damage if engineered to installed incorrectly.

Not worth it IMO

Sorry for the confusion I mixed up the crank pulley with the under drive pulley. I hard horrible stories about the AMS crank pulley too. I didnt hear really anything about the Ud though.

Nice! Maybe we can get a poll of who'd be interested to buy and then do a group buy...? If we had a few guys, they might give us a discount.
