is it possible to tweak the airfilterbox for better performance?
Renntech's part is very expensive.
what can be done to our factory airfilter housing for better airflow?

Hard to say..our stock air box is a ram air type with plenum that builds pressure..real hotrod stuff AMG came up with! Renntech further enhances but I never saw one in person so Im not sure what they did ,maybe removed some excess material in the box bottom itself? With the two ram tubes and the pressurized box its hard to improve on it IMHO.But im with you brother if we can gain something lets get it!

I have a renntech box and can tell you they removed the baffles as well as made it taller, as far as I can tell they only modified the top half.
Remove the box & MAF screens helps to get more airflow.....>>)O(<<

I have removed the baffles indice and the grill on the filter exit. Have kept the grill at the entry of the MAF though.
There are "2" grills in the MAF, main big plastic one & the small alloy one,
i removed the alloy one,
i think its more than enough for a safety particles to goes inside...!!

In my opinion there is no need to modify anything. Just swap to sport filters (f.e. K&N).
