Do (EGR) Valve's go bad on c43's????

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew if the Egr valves go bad on c43's? There are two of them in front of the intake manifold. And one more thing what do they exactly do? I looked at mines and they look okay. The hoses that connect to them are starting to crack. So I was curious if anyone replaced them before?

Those two are a shut-off valves, they are a parts of the starting Emission system,,

they not usually damaged, just they goes dirty, if you want to service them,

you will need to clean them from inside, replace their hoses, and replace their gaskets.....

I got the same code and I tried taking off the valve to clean it. Now i have to replace the right side, it seems the go bad and if you try to take it off, it can break. Now gotta replace the right side. $218.00 dealers list.

Edit: Never mind, I incorrectly removed the wrong valve. I removed the right shut off valve and the EGR is something else entirely. Had to learn the hard way. Facepalm, but does anyone know a good piece extractor tool I can use for removing the broken piece on engine? I have put a new shut off valve on the engine, and need a good DIY extractor tool that would be recommended.
