Thanks Benzslo, I lapped them with fine grit they came out really nice glad I did it.
Do the oil pumps wear out on these engines?

Nope, never seen one wear out. They can get plugged up with sealant if the motor has been apart a bunch and the person uses way too much sealant, just like any motor.
Ausmbtech-
I had my parts guy do some digging today, turns out the cams from the slk55, c55, and clk55 (209) are all the same. 113-050-89-01 and 113-050-90-01 are the cams and they are in engines 113.989 (slk55), 113.988 (clk and c), and 113.987 (?? n/a for U.S.)

Thanks for reminding I will check the pickup!.
After trying 2mm and removing it again I applied the lower end of the spec 1.5mm bead around the front cover, despite staying well away from the edges and being very uniform it still spreads well in excess!. Much easier with the mb corking gun, cant believe I lived without it.

Quick question - with a new HG,do you apply a 2mm bead under the head gasket around the top of the timing cover?, detail about timing case replacement in wis suggests this but there's no drawing showing sealant path and there is nothing to suggest this when replacing the HG only?...I assume sealant is only used if the timing case is removed but not the heads?.
I see the bit where you add sealant for porous LHS head.
Cheers,

A good friend recently bought an 03 55 AMG. 2 week after he bought it the H/ balancer sheared key and made real mess off crank nose. i am removing the crank so it can be repaired, just crank, top end is staying on. im having difficulty finding specs for the m113. Would you happen to have
Mains and big end torque settings?
" " " " bearing gaps?
Flex plate bolt torque?
The crank removal looks straight forward but is there any traps with cam timing. appreciate any help
This is first time working on a MB and after pulling engine and trans out today, as a mechanic (diesel) i love these cars, design, layout, and actual consideration has been given to working on these things.
and then there is the brutal performance. These things are nuts and im buying one soon

I imagine you will find all that info in the WIS. You just need to have someone get you a copy of the related pages. Unfortunately I don't have it, only have EPC.
Perhaps get in contact with the OP Ausmbtech or else Benzlo. Both are MB techs.

Your best bet is to get yourself a copy of WIS when doing this work and follow it religiously, most of it will require you to replace bolts or at least measure them. it will also have the correct sealant paths and specs for bead etc there's plenty to trip you up if you are not familiar!
Taken from 2012 WIS for M113 211 kompressor,no bolt stretch limits or "one use" notes included
Connecting Rod bolts
stage1 5Nm
stage2 25Nm
stage3 90 degree's.
Main bearing caps
M8 - stage1 20Nm,stage2 90 degree's
M10 -stage1 5Nm,stage2 30Nm,stage3 90 degree's
Side bolts M8 - 30Nm
Front harmonic damper -stage1 200Nm,stage2 90 degree's. make sure threads are lightly oiled.
Drive plate - Stage1 45Nm,Stage2 90 Degree's.
Cheers,
Paul

E55 engines up to 07/2000 were they fitted with lower compression pistons?
these engines had the 10.5:1 compression pistons?
i found a car built 09/2000, is it possible to check by engine serialnumber if this motor have the higher compression of 11:1?
engines with higher comp, did they have more torque and HP then earlier model year engines?
354hp and 530NM is a lot of power, did 2001 engines recieve more?

daem, i thought the last 2 years of w210 e55 had higher comp engines, no biggie then.
i still think it's the best to go with last 2 years engines if they are available for a decent price, uprated engines with updated parts

Yes agree'd, Cams and rockers update with these around this time though I am not sure why, does anybody know why EPC says "do no use old stock" of #38/39 cams? it could be a wear issue,or maybe timing?... these are the ones used in my 5.4, but I notice many parts have updated numbers in the later 01-02 engines...I see some small things like vaccum pipes/fittings hoses have extra ribs for better seal etc..
Looks like compression increase is due to a different crank from engine 60 046180.

when engines are swapped, would it be possible to swap ECU box from C43 and replace it with an ECU box of E55AMG, running the 5.4L engine with E55 ECU box?
no tune will be needed when you use the correct parts
would this ECU work on our cars: Mercedes E55 AMG W210 A0235456932
would EIS recognise the E55 ecu?

Dennis,
Since Early E55 had same ECU as C43 there is coding option to make your C43 have E55 maps, however.. you need SDS(maybe with "Developer" access) and while I have be able code the C43 ecu to E55 I have not tested it as I no longer have the gate shift, or any other suitable modules to match.
cheers,

It will work, but you need ignition & key together with it, all these 3 should to come together for start authorization(DAS)..!<>!,,
"023 545 69 32" is the old #, it's replaced to the last #, which is: "026 545 31 32"..

seems like tuning the C43 ECU to e55 data complicates everything?
maybe i should just let the stock C43 ECU adapt to new engine and drive that way not tuning ecu at all?
what you think?

when you say early e55 engines shared the same c43 data ecu maybe newer e55 engines had different data in their updated ecu's and using stock c43 ecu matched with a 2001 engine this might not be the best combination?
old ecu data with newer 2001 engine, good or bad match what you think?

No Dennis, i even have the last ECU # in my early 1998 C43, and using it now,
CLK430/E430/ML430 using differ ECU than C43/E55, but C43 & E55 sharing the same ECU,
prefer to use the stock one, and let it adapt,,
will not get any benefit if replace it, rather than loosing Time & $$$$...!!!
