Did you notice any sound difference? I was thinking of going afe dry filters but for the price I might consider this
Honestly, I could not tell if there was any difference in sound. My exhaust was straightpiped after the secondary cats, so it was relatively loud to begin with.

A general rule of thumb that works for me is to remove the filter from its package (when brand new) and let it air out for a day or so before installation. As a result, in the 20,000 miles that I have driven with the K&N air filters (the time most prone to have problems show up), I have not had any CEL or MAF-related issues. These are broken in and good to go for another 30,000 miles before requiring any re-oiling.
However, this is just my experience; I am not in a position to debate a Mercedes mechanic. YMMV~
