MOBIL 1

just checked out the new Mobil 1 series M, 5W-40 at local parts store. $12.73 per quart plus 8% tax. Thats $110. plus filter & labor. Getting pricey. No choice.

new öl does it cover both specifications?
MB 229.3 / 229.5

Yes, it is approved for both 229.3 & 229.5 It appears that it was formulated specifically for MB as no other mfg's approvals were listed. I suspect MB dealers will eventually offer only the new product. Someone else may have more info on this than I do but this is my take on it.

I found it at my local auto parts store. So I think it will soon be available at most any place that carries a selection of Mobil 1

It'd be cheaper just getting it changed at the dealer I'm thinking. Pretty sure we charge 139 but that's with parts and labor, and a free wash, dry, vacuum, etc.
and washer fluid, tire pressure adjust, quick inspection.
