Has anyone gone to see a c43 in Mira Mesa that has been for sale for many months? Looking for some insight on this vehicle.

Why would you want that thing? It's a salvage title.

A salvage title is not a damning indictment. Its merely a piece of paper that indicates you need to run a carfax to find out why. A minor collision in my c43 means my car has a salvage title too. New bumper, fender, headlight, corner light, and control arm later and its like it never happened.

I highly doubt someone had a serious accident or flood in a 15 year old car and spent many thousands of dollars to repair it knowing it would have a salvage title and sell for an enormous loss.

Just check it out. Might be fine. Might not. My cars are built like tanks and it would take a great deal to chase me away from a dead one. Even a dead engine and/or transmission means its an ideal candidate for an E55 engine swap.

I just reviewed the ad and it looks pretty damn good to me. I'd find out why it was salvaged and review it myself. If not, take it to your mechanic and tell him why it was totalled. He'll quickly surmise if the car is good or ruined. Personally it'd take something pretty damn scary to chase me away. Its still an uber rare w202 that looks in great shape.

+1 one of our BMW's has a salvaged title from a shorted wire harness in the dash that melted/damaged the cluster. It was repaired at shop prior to my brother buying it with a new cluster and harness. If it wasn't for the title you would never know.

But flip side to that coin.. This car could have a 5 gallons buckets worth of body filler on top of a twisted frame.. Just got to do a little digging.

Hi there, I saw your post on the "other" forum. I'm looking at this car in the next couple days. I'll let you know what I find [If I don't drive away with it ]
