Front adjustable upper control arms.
 

Ake at Hedgehog motorsports is working on a set of camber adjustable upper front control arms for the W202. They will fit the Crossfire if they ever go into production. He has pics on the Hedgehog FB page. They need a redesign with a thicker tube to be stiffer. I think any of you interested should contact him, to help drive these to completion.

For those of you who don't know of him, AKE puts out some fantastic, high quality work. He does A LOT of stuff for the w201 community. He comes very highly recommended.

They do look very well made and the gusset look good. Hell I might be interested in a non adjustable set. But can some one explain the application? What I'm getting as is if you lower your car to the point of negative camber that cannot be corrected with mercedes bolt kits your pretty low. By adjusting the upper control arm your going to be closing the fender clearance to the tire. By the time you get the camber right won't you be running the risk of fender damage short of going to a wide body?

Well, you could aways do a fender spacer kit and/or a little fender work before going wide body. Then again, I know that AKE was talking about working on a DTM style rep kit for the 202, so maybe that's what he is making these for...

That would make sense. Go to the lowest camber bolt kit. Get these adjustable arms to push that tire out and wide body. Get some tire up front. Either way they they still look great and still would be an upgrade being you could replace the ball joint without having to replace the whole arm and maybe give you more wheel offset options too. :)

I'm at -1.7 degrees with the K-MAC kit adjusted to the max. This would free up the K-MAC to allow more caster. I would hazard Ake would be able to design both caster and camber adjustments with this design. My fenders have been pulled previously, but there is more that can be done to increase fender clearance.

I'm on Vogtlands with a #1 pad in front, and #4 in the rear.

Camber was -2.9 degrees before I installed the K-MAC's.

how were you able to run so much negative camber on the front?? :eek:
did you do your own alignment?

i got the factory crash bolts and took it to an alignment shop and asked them to put as much negative in the front as possible while not screwing anything up and i think the most they could get was -1.9 and -1.8.

the only variable would be your vogtland springs vs my euro springs, which from what ive seen and read is about a 0.75 inch difference in ride height. is that amount of lowering adding a full degree of camber? i dont know what my spring pads are, whatever was factory on my car.

Your ride looks great! Are you running 17's or 18's, no rubbing?

It was almost an inch lower on cut springs last year. I got tired of the rubbing, so went with the Vogtlands. At the same time, I installed the K-MAC bushings I bought a year before that. I do my own alignments with a homebuilt camber/caster setup, and a string setup I built my self. Only downside is it requires removal of both front and rear bumpers.

Wheels are from W209 CLK55. 18x7.5, 18x8.5. I have 19" Mandrus, but still have not bought tires for them. Maybe in the spring.

With the current setup, occasionally a little rubbing, nothing tire damaging though.

Any update on these control arms?

Does anyone try these Ake's adjustable upper arms...??

Not sure what you are talking about when you refer to 'Ake's' There are Kmac front lower control arm bushings and also rear bushings which pull the lower wheel into spec. In addition there are 'Ghost Rider & MB Arts rear control arm's which push out the upper wheel to control camber. Everything is a compromise.

I've got these Hedgehog-motorsport upper A-arms on order and will post up pictures when they arrive plus a review once they've under gone trial by fire at the track.

I already have Kmacs and will leave them installed.

I had a set of these ready to order a few weeks ago, but he was out of town and couldn't get the payment processed. I just received an update response this morning that another set will be completed in two weeks. :smash:

Awesome to hear someone else pulled the trigger on these! Can't wait to hear your input. I am looking to correct a little over a degree of camber. I don't have K-Macs and don't really want them to be honest.

Also, I tried contacting them about the range of movement and extended/compressed lengths, but didn't really receive a clear response. I'm trying to find out if these will be enough to correct the camber for a lowering spring like Vogtland.

Whats the price for these?

Does that mean another two weeks before they arrive? :cool: I'm anxious man, waiting to pull the trigger on these. Could you give me the fully opened/fully closed lengths of the arms when they arrive?
