I bought a C230 for about $2500 and have spent several thousand rebuilding the engine, suspension, etc. but this wobble is driving me mad. While I don't have a C36, the inline motor is similar and the chassis is the same. I know that the shaking is more than what should exist, even with a lowered car, but I feel like I am just going to live with it.

 

What does the pro-mechanic say?
If shop is a pro-shop they should pinpoint your problem at once after check up.

Engine mounts dont vibrate under acceleration or in neutral as far as I know.

I had rly bad engine mounts my car shook so bad at a stop light. As soon as I drive or if I put in into neutral at the light, the vibrations went away.

Replaced engine mounts, car as new.

 

Yup, I can get vibration if I am driving and throw it in neutral.

 

Have you ruled out the tires? How old are they??

Vibration present with different wheel tire setup?

Id rule that out first before tackling anything else.

Go to a place where they can do road balance test.

 

In all likelihood, it feels like a bent wheel.
