Good to know that the engine idles as it should and pulls strong again. Regarding for a need or not of a tune, do you have an idea when the plugs where changed? It is possible to change them yourself (x16) but access is a bit difficult and you need a good set of tools and different sized extension bars, etc. Access to the rear plugs is a PITA as space is very limited. However, if you have valve covers are not oil tight and need gasket changes, getting to the plugs is so much easier with the covers off. For the filters (x2) a quick clean is not sufficient except to remove dead insects and other muck. Paper filters need to be changed and are not expensive. An improvement in overall performance can be obtained by changing the fuel filter. This part is often totally forgotten as it lives under the right rear part of the chassis and you need to get to it from underneath. Prepare to find plenty of rusty screws and parts. Probably a new fuel pump and filter support will be needed.
Did you do a error scan with a OBD reader? That can also point out faulty areas which need to be looked at.

Some engines drop right in, some need an oil pump and pan change.
Also, I know you got yours figured out, but just for future reference for anyone who searches this thread, you can also get the MAS or MAF insert here:

I had a similar issue with my C43. Bought the car, ran great. Did some work with the car off the street for a few weeks, afterwards it just had a dead spot while driving. Bought a genuine Bosch MAF off of Amazon for $100, fixed it.
As others have mentioned, also check your plugs, wires, coils, fuel filter, and oxygen sensors. All should be replaced around 100k.

My wifes lexus is300 had same symptoms. I would press the gas but most of the time i had to lay off and do it very slowly for it to pick up. Cleaned the sensor and the car runs like a rocket

Lol. You have to run codes before anything. Would not have run out and bought a 150$ part without using a $10 code reader. Lol. What's up with three bad advice in this thread! Lololol

Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes(make sure you dont close the trunk)
Once its hooked back up, drive the car hard. Shift it manualy if you have to and hold the gear as high as possible but dont go redline on it. I would also take it out on the freeway for a bit.
The tranny needs to pick up on aggresive shifting now that its reset and it takes a certain amount of gear shifts i guess. I hate the damn adaptive transmission
