"True" C55 conversion question
Hi guys, I'm sure this has been asked before but I just cannot find it. Here is the info I have managed to gather:
202 C55 shares same engine as 210 E55
202 C55 shares same transmission as 210 E55, 208 CLK55, 202 C43
202 C55 shares same rear pumpkin as 210 E55 (not 100% sure on this one, but I have read it is different from the C43 pumpkin. Maybe it's the same as the 208 CLK55?)
202 C55 has a 300km/h cluster
In my head, a 202 C43 with these changes would technically be the same as a 202 C55 minus the AMG paperwork and window sticker. Am I way off base?

C55 had 347 HP the same with CLK55.
C55 had different pumpkin than C43
C55 had a 300 km/h cluster
C55 had a stronger tranny than C43
if you're into doing this engine conversion, i have a pre-facelift w210 white dial AMG-300km/h cluster which you can swap parts into a Frankenstein with your existing C43 cluster.
This cluster fits originally for w208 and w210 cars, cluster housing is a bit deeper than w202 cluster.
I also have separate genuine VDO AMG-300 white dials 4-SALE
these are very rare parts

Thanks for the help kowalski. Which vehicles did the pumpkin and transmission come out of? I can't find different transmission codes for the vehicles so I'm doing a bit of guessing here. Not sure how I feel about the cluster, do you have any pics?

check this build thread on club zwei-nul-zwei forum, there's some info for ya.

this is what my cluster looks like and facedial wrapped in polybag.
dials are brand spanking new!
certain w210 cluster parts can be swapped over and be modified to fit existing w202 cluster housing and electronics.

Went through the link kowalski provided and it seems it is a fairly short list to complete the conversion:
5.4L M113 engine
722.636 transmission (210 E55, 208 CLK55 appear to share this one)
2.82 ratio larger rear pumpkin out of 208 CLK55 (should install diff cover above diff in trunk area)
300km/h cluster
Not too bad as these are all fairly easy to source (minus the cluster) and none are expensive. Definitely exciting news!
Thank you for your assistance kowalski.

Zayed, it is a 99.
Also, I misspoke about everything being easy to find. I'll have to talk to my local dealer about the cutout and cover for the larger pumpkin. I'm guessing I'll have to source that from Europe or maybe I'll get lucky and the part for the 208 clk55 can be ordered here in the states.

C43 gearbox sharing the same out-put with CLK55/E55 gearbox, which is (A580Nm),
while you have gate shifter, you have to stick with stock (3.07), can't go with any other diff. Ratio..!

Kinda what I figured, unless there is a way to flash the ecu to compensate for the different rear end ratio. The mechanical stuff (driveshaft and axles) will be easy.

Mechanical things are so easy,
but until this moment, no one able to reprogramming our TCU/EGS51 to another Ratio, cause our TCU is married with ECU, through speed sensors & RPM rotational range..!!

Bummer! I suppose a lot of electronics are required to get it working properly. Also, do you happen to have the PN for the cover for the floor of the trunk? I may consider doing the larger housing with the 3.07 ratio so it is closer to spec.

Yeah, it requires a damn lot Electrics & mechanics things, you can keep the stock 3.07 diff., with 5.4l swapped,,
do you mean the mat cover above the spare wheel..?

The factory w202 c55AMG version had a larger diff which needed a modification to the floor pan to fit. I assume this is what Alex33 is asking. However, as the number of C55 built is very small, I have doubts the parts for modifiying the floor pan are readily available, not unless they perhaps used parts from the clk55 parts bin.

Sure, i think this cover not comes separately, it's part of floor arch lining assembly..!
our friend's Paul(pagz), knows about it better than me, he got a donor CLK55, and swapped all things to his C43..
