A/C Aux fan delete

Guys, have been thinking about doing this for a while as these rarely get used in our climate down here,bearings have gone very dry!.

Aside from the Aircon not being able to chill to its max ability in hot weather can anyone see any significant negatives?...I have seen info that these come on as backup when engine passes 120 degree C? is this true?.

The reason to remove is weight and airflow, they shed 4.3Kg and really open up the radiator.

Because they are common with climate control systems not found in all 202, you can code them out easily;

if you let your car idle for long period of time, your aux fans are needed for added extra cooling protection.

btw
do you have the partsnumber for AMG logo on front spoiler?
thanks

Paul,

As you know; these fans been there to cooled the A/C gas in Condenser, and little bit help to pull some air for Radiator,

i will agree with you, if you can spaced the Condenser from the Radiator, that will helps a lot avoiding heat from Radiator, and create good gap for air flows between them..!!

ZAYED,,

Why not remove the engine fan all together and leave the A/C fans. One of the two fans kicks in when the engine gets very hot. I have the info somewhere in my files. I'll see if I can dig it out...

Dennis, AMG logo is "HWA 104 584 01 43 "

Zayed, DRB, thanks yes have thought about using the A/C fans for cooling on my last w202, however I think they do not have required capacity?, the 203 C55 has large 850W? motor, unfortunately I did some measurements and this will not fit on the 202,also it is difficult to move the condenser/radiator any further forwards.

The viscous is much lighter than an electric fan setup,however I would still prefer electric. I thought maybe a similar design to some other MB(W220) may work but it would need to be complete custom to get right location for motor;
