1999 MERCEDES C43
Locking Problem
So I have a 1999 C43. My key locks and unlocks all doors throughout the summer. Once winter hits the car do not want to unlock/lock. My remotes are good, with new batteries installed tested at a local parts store. When I unlock/lock the car by inserting the key in on the driver side the car unlock/locks.
Sometimes my gas cap flap get stuck, so I open it with the red lever inside the trunk. Has anyone else had this issue and where do I start trying to fix it myself?

This is just my 2c idea...
Perhaps the electrical locks need some cleaning and fresh lubrication. If your problem occurs when cold, it could be that the old grease becomes hard and blocks the lock. Or else the main air pump is tired.

Yeah the vacuum pump is the culprit when your doors and fuel door won't unlock lock, could be.

I'm not sure that your symptoms are exactly the same as mine, but I'm dealing with a key fob failure. The key fob started getting finicky with opening the locks with the button and then every once and a while, it wouldn't turn out of the lock position in the ignition. I replaced the batteries multiple times and it didn't really make the situation any better. Eventually it got to the point where it didn't work for any function. I used the blade key now to unlock the doors and my valet key to drive the car. Going to order a new key soon and then take this current one apart to see if I can find the failure.
