Baby 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Convertible Spied
This slightly camouflaged C was seen puttering around recently. It is likely the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet, the little bro of the C63 Cab.

I'm just hoping it raises awareness of our cars, and maybe even the value of them.
Perhaps people will start to understand just how rare it is to see one of the few C43's ever built.

Had a repairman at my house recently. He was convinced that my cars were fakes. He didn't think he'd ever see one, let alone two at the same house. He made sure to quiz me about the cars, asked me to pop the hood so he could see that they were real. I got a lot of satisfaction out of that.
Wife says the photographer who came out to take pics of our house (for the realtor) asked her the same question. "Are those real?" At least, she assures me he was asking about the cars.

a car guy will know if it's the real deal, other people will have doubts
BTW
the new 2017 C43 looks very ugly, is it the ugly duckling?
my 1999 C43 is helluva lot hotter looking than the 2017 car.
shame on MB designing an ugly car

I can't remember, is that the pseudo AMG that they are releasing for some unknown reason to dilute what used to be a very special car, with special nomenclature and correct breeding....or is that a real AMG that I just haven't seen yet?

Just when it appeared they learned their lesson about making a bunch of Fake AMG's to dilute the population, they make it worse.
They will release a "Mercedes-AMG" version of every AMG. It will have all the same interior, brakes, suspension, everything of a real AMG, but a weaker engine.
In the C63, you have the twin turbo 4.0 litre V8. In the C43, you will have the same turbos, but on a 3.0 litre V6. It's still going to be a really cool and fast car, but that's not the point.
They have destroyed their badging system so now it makes no sense. A C350 is actually a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder with a turbo. A C450 is a 3 litre V6 with turbos and is about to become the "C43"
It makes no damn sense at all.
I like the cars, though. The new C class sedan and coupe are gorgeous and their interiors are just fantastic. Sister-in-law drives a '15 C300 4matic and it's perfect! But, that cabrio looks like a turd.

you have this all wrong. from 2017 forward the c class and next generation e-class (w213) will be badged as c43 and e43, the 4.0 liter biturbo is too small to continue the "63" badging, so they have decided to return to the 43 badging. you are confusing this with the c450 and gle450 amg, these vehicles have the same biturbo v6 (m276.8) as in a c400 or gle 400 with a slight tune exhaust and trim/options. the 43 is the full amg.

But my main point is still: where are you getting that they are dropping the 63 and renaming it a 43? the 43 is going to be a biturbo v6. the biturbo v8 will be the 63 badge. Every. Single. Piece. of automotive news or release from Mercedes confirms it

Do you have a source for that? I've read everything I can possibly find on the new cars and have never heard one single word about them dropping the '63' badging because the biturbo V8 is "too small to continue" when technically they haven't actually been 6.3l for 50 years. They can badge them however they want, there are no rules here.

Looked firther in to it. You are correct. My previous statement was based on info i recieved from a reliable source in mb, actually quite surprised he was wrong. Looks like the 43 will take over for the 450 "amg" currently released. Not a bad car but its a shame to do this to the amg brand. To make this its own amg instead of an amg sport package is nonsense. Mb is shooting themselves in the foot with this

SOME THINGS CAN'T BE MASS-PRODUCED.
From the beginning, the "One Man, One Engine" philosophy has guided AMG's approach to manufacturing. Even now, every AMG engine is hand built from start to finish by one of about 50 AMG Master Engine Builders in a special facility.
As the final step in the assembly process, the engine-maker affixes a plaque engraved with his signature to the engine cover. It's an enduring reminder that even the heart of a Mercedes-AMG has a soul.

Just the other day, my friend who works at a big body shop called me up to say they had a "C300 AMG" in there and all the redneck body shop workers were laughing at how slow it was. He's not as well versed as us on it and he was so confused as to why this relatively modern AMG was so much slower than a V6 Mustang. Tried explaining it to him but he would respond with "but it has AMG brakes/gauges/wheels" etc.
