Airbox to MAF boot - gap

Hey all,

I picked up a 99 C43 earlier this week and one of the issues I noticed was a gap between the MAF and the airbox. I ordered part 1121590080 thinking this would seal off the gap. I struggled for about ten minutes trying to get it to seat on the MAF, but no go. There is still a gap and obviously it is not correct. I think I ordered the right part but I need more parts to get it to work right.

I searched around and found pn 1121410440 http://www.mbpartsworld.com/p/__/BRA...121410440.html

link to pn 1121590080 https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...al/1121590080/

I attached a diagram and it looks like 110 is 1121410440 and 80 is 1121590080. Is there a pn for 73? Is it 1121590180?

Anybody know what parts I need to get this correct? Thanks

A few pics attached.

Make sure that part 110 from the diagram holds the maf in place nice and tight.

Other than that I havent experienced with any other seals or rubbers back there.

Are you sure your airbox is correctly placed on the MAF and intake? Check the securing clips (x4) under the box are not bent or damaged.

I agree with this. Each time i have taken my airbox off I have to spend about 10 mins arranging it properly so there is no gap at the MAF. It's quite tricky. And I have found that if you press the box down too hard and it's not properly placed on the rubber stops then the clips bend easily and it won't sit right...

Seems obvious but I would triple check that before ordering the parts.

Thanks for the replies.

I did order pn 1121590180, but the clamp pn 1121410440 is NLA. I cant quite remember if that part is on the engine, but the MAF seemed secure.

I will take a look to see how the clamps are seating on the posts. If anything it seemed like the rear posts are seated too high. My pinky could barely fit in the gap, but any gap is too wide. When I did the first oil change on Weds after taking ownership, the inside of the driver's side valve cover had some sludge probably caused by debris passing into the MAF through the gap.

Quick update.

The correct gasket is 1121590180, not 1121590080. Also there is a definite method to getting it to seat correctly, which is placing the airbox outlet on the MAF first, then placing the pegs on the engine.
