55 Engine Swap
#102
I red that some w210 owners replaced the TPS but haven't heard about w202 owners replacing the TPS before?
how common is it to replace the TPS on w202/w208/w210?

I bought a Hella, when i took it out of the box its identical to the original, but has some fine grinding done right where the Merc star would be. The numbers on it are identical in every way including placement.
It was $189 AUD delivered to my door.
It didnt need replacement, but it has mad a slight improvement in pedal linearity. Takes about 5 minutes to swap.

Yes the item pictured by Speed43.
The throttle position sensor is part of the throttle body, it is inside a metal cover, and cant be replaced as a seperate part. I have opened one up for a look, but it was fine even at 278,000klms, so id say theyre a bit more hardy than the later versions with the plastic cover.
The symptoms of a bad throttle position sensor is a hunting idle when cold, which eventually becomes all the time, and will likely throw codes for O2 sensors. I have repaired a few on W203s, but never heard of the issue on earlier models yet.
The throttle pedal sensor, as pictured above, will throw a code if it goes faulty, and you may have no throttle response at all. On mine, it worked fine, but the linearity of the first 1/8-1/4 of throttle was not quite even, so may be some wear in the old one that was causing a lazy first part of throttle movement.

9.4ltrs/100klms
Ambient temps from 32-39°C, air conditioning on all the way and set at 23°C, mostly cruising between 80kph and 110kph, quite a few full throttle over-takes, stopped for 5 breaks on the trip.

Drove a 520klm trip today, filled up prior to leaving, and filled up at the end.

that seems to be a normal fuel consumption 0,94L@10km's with your donor engine.
when you had the original 113944 C43 engine in you car?
I guess the fuel consumption of 0,94L @ 100 km's with the new 113984 engine is just about the same as with the old 113944 C43 engine?
it's not a big difference in fuel consumption between motors.

Same here. I very rarely use W not unless I have switched to that setting by mistake when cleaning the dust...
