C43 Headlamp Switch

Whats the right part number?

0005456204 (Code 236/460) [confused about the code. 236 seems to be daytime running lights so im guessing that this is not the one even though listed by epc)

epc also lists
0005456004

the one i pulled from the car is 0005456004.

does anyone have the wiring diagram for the switch? i'd like to test my switch, particularly i had an error code on one of the right parking lights. i had tested the harness before pulling the switch and i found two prongs were hot on the left side but only one on the right side. i didnt note the colors but both sides had a prong with a single wire that was hot and the left side had a prong with double wires (both grey with some stripe) that was hot. on the right side, i found the same prong (double grey wires into a single prong) but it was not hot.

so im guessing that connection is not getting juice. hoping it is just the switch, maybe i can test it though???

MB canceled those "236/460" codes, cause they are for (Australia/Canada) spec. due order,

no need to care about them,

the difference between "60 04/62 04" are the numbers of pins,

*"60 04" comes in black cover with 11-pins, while "62 04" got gray cover with 13-pins,

assuming more pins for "daylight sensor or F/R foglights or Emergency park"..!!

prefer to pull out yours & see how many pins it has..?!?

thanks zayed. im not 100% convinced my problem is from the switch. i suspect i have a bad ground somewhere. three reasons i think it might be a bad ground somewhere:

1. flickering headlights when i hit a bump
2. intermittent failure of one of my xenon bulbs (could be a bad ballast)
3. blow a fuse on my new tail lights when i hit a bump or bang the housing with my hand

is there a place that lists all the ground connections for the C43? would be a great guide if online. idk if WIS has a list.

Does that happened after LED taillights conversion..??

prefer to check the main connectors of headlight & taillight,

some of pins may slips out, make sure connectors should sealed properly, and not move if hits anything,,

then check the battery voltage when lights on>>off..!

i have light out warning for about a year now on my right tail... one of the bulbs wont light up. so instead of fixing i just remove the same bulb from my left side

saves me from getting pulled over and ticket

anyway i did the conversion and initially i thought i damaged the new tail on install because fuse kept blowing out, but today i realized that only the parking light is not working. brake light, turn and reverse are all fine so it is not a short in the tail but instead a short in the parking wire maybe.

anyway my thought process is:

1. bad ground somewhere (almost unlikely because rear tail is far distance to travel for electrical short unless bad ground in the back of the car somewhere)

2. short in harness (this is fatal error, hope not)

3. bad switch

As far as flickering headlights, can be bad ground in front of car or even bad connection in front harness (also could be bad switch)

intermittent left headlight is very likely bad ballast (but other issues should be solved first)

i'll buy some die-electric tomorrow and check connectors on and off first, thanks. i have both multimeter and circuit tester, tester is nice and easy to quickly check for current. great tool.

also my switch is the black one with less pins. so i will stick my nose around the connections over the next 2 days before ordering the new switch.
