Who Made Your Engine?

I think we know about the Orphans Club, but it is possible in some cases to find out who built your engine. Even if there is no plaque on your engine they may know who built it.

I don't know if you have to join the private lounge to make an inquiry, but I did send my C43 VIN to AMG and they did not have any record of who built the engine on my car. The email I corresponded with was amg-privatelounge*@*daimler.com (without the **). To say the least, I was very disappointed that they didn't have that info.

After doing the 5.4 swap, I submitted the VIN from the donor car which happened to be a 2002 CLK55 without a plaque and AMG had the record of who built it...

My engine was built by Master Mechanic Zeljko Vresko!

Kinda cool.

the origins of the 43 engine and the car are weirdly unwritten. I guess it isn't too crazy to realize that almost 20 years later, those people don't work at AMG anymore, but they are surprisingly blank when it comes to details about our cars. I mean, no one has really figured out exactly how they were built. Did AMG just send engines to MB to put in cars? Did MB send body shells and other components to AMG where the cars were finished by hand? I've seen people explain it numerous ways but no one has any real, direct source to prove which is the truth.

And now they don't even know who built our engines? What if the 43 motor is just a run of the mill 4.3 with better cams that wasn't even made by AMG?

MB sent the engines to AMG. AMG modified the engine and sent it back to MB. MB installed the engine and then shipped the car to AMG for finalization.
