I have a 97 C36 with a single button remote control key - one of the ugliest keys I've seen - attached picture.
I believe the original remote control key for this year and car was the single button remote with the MB star as the single button - is this correct? Does this remote have the panic feature available?
Are there any other versions of remotes that are applicable/workable with the car and its infrared system? Don't want to convert the system/change it, but just a "prettier/modern looking" infrared fob. Perhaps would something like the attached work? It's apparently for ML 320 430 500 SLK 230 320.
I bought a brand new factory key from local MB dealership as my fob wore out with infrared remote system for my '96 C36 just as you see in picture for around $215-230ish (although they were having a 15% discount on parts that month). Just gave them my VIN and it works fine remote and key entry. Not sure if this helps, but really thought it'd be in the $350 + range so I was happy and personally do not care what it looks like, but no panic feature if that's what you're seeking.
