The elusive ground points for the W202. Lets post pictures of the actual ground points as we find them.
i wish it told me what exactly was being grounded where, but it doesn't. it is more of just location points so not really more helpful than the diagram alone.

ptcruiser: yes, you read it right. And it cost about $1200 on the last '98 C280 also (we've had two). This is why I (try) to do my own work, but after going in myself and changing the conductor plate ($300 part) and the solenoids tested good, I put it back together and refilled with Valvoline MaxLife. Trans didn't work. Took it to the indie and he went in, replaced one solenoid and something in the valve body that was a known failure point. I had considered it but decided against going into the valve body. $1200, thank you very much. I think it's unprofessional to argue after the work has been done, so I paid and went on my way, lightened considerably and knowing what more to do ... next time.
This Benz, and the last one of the same year with twice the mileage, costs about $1100 per year to maintain.
Here I am, thinking that the guys doing bodywork for the previous owner are moving around all the wires, but lo and behold...all the grounds near the engine bay look factory.....what an unexpected relief LOL
