i just crazy glued the plastic arm that broke instead. i knew it wouldnt hold... so i took a very small nail and heated it up with a lighter. then i inserted the hot nail through the broken arm and into the base of the cup holder. i made sure that the nail did not extend into the area where the cup holder slides.

Good fix
I don't have nor need for that type of contraption in my 43. Seems very much a N. American need thing to hold cans and such like high sugar content sodas.
I'm going to use a pencil eraser or earring back on the other side of that nail. Just to secure it a bit more.
Do you have anything in the cup holder slot? Beers fit perfectly there. Nice when you are working on the car.
Fun fact, Mercedes-Benz was either one of the last or the very last auto company to put cup holders in their cars. Read that somewhere, don't remember where.
