Talking Looking into maybe swapping my C36 Engine into a 190 16V euro car.

You read that correctly.

I am looking for any advice. Tech tips. Photos. I did some quick searching and found a few tidbits on line and on youtube with some folks who have done this swap. I have an 85 Euro 16v with 185k miles on it. The car runs but I am doing the EVO 2 kit on the car and thinking about yanking the C36 engine out of my 95 C36 and installing it.

I figure at a minimum

New Clutch/ ( not sure where to get a flywheel or if its the same as the 190

New shocks (hydraulic shock delete)
All new engine seals and perform timing chain maintenance

Here are the unknowns.

Do I need to do a head gasket and do any head work? My 95 C 36 has 220k original miles and has never I repeat never had the head removed. The engine leaks oil but it doesnt appear to burn any at all. It has never over heated.

Will the C36 Brakes from the 95 be moveable over to the 190? or should I be looking at a different set up?

I have a nice budget set asside for the project but I will be mindful not to over board.

Thanks in advance for all of your tips/critique/harassment.

JJ

Those paying attention will notice that this means I will have body kit parts available soon from both a C36 and a 19016V

Crazy idea, but each to his own I guess.

Have you checked or asked on the w201 forum page? https://mbworld.org/forums/190e-w201-60/

You need to go on www.190rev.net and search around for info. Plenty of info there for you.
