How many sets of brake pads..................?

How many sets of brake pads can I use on one pair of 1999 original rotors?

My car has covered approx 116500km's in 18 years.
My car is not a daily drive nor a winter car.

I'm currently using Porterfield R4s street/racing pads which has been very good to me on break performance, brake dust and being silent brakes.
No squeelers at all!

I fit these Portersfield pads back in 2005, my car had approx 65000km's on the clock.
Since then I have not changed pads on my car.
There is still meat to grind on my pads but pad gets thinner with use.

My rotors doesn't have any sharp edges yet which means the Porterfield R4s pads are rotor friendly for long life use.

I have a new set of original HWA/AMG rotors, however that would probably be a waste of money to put them on when my original 1999 rotors still have plenty of meat to grind from them.

I have to buy a new set of pads for my car to install in the next year.
Do MB have a new formula for low dusting AMG brake pads or do they still sell the same dusty a$$ but awesome Jurids?

Or

Maybe I should try Akebono Euro Ceramics?

Or

Buy the very same great Portersfield R4s pads?

Did anyone try Akebono vs Portersfield?
Which one was the better pad overall?
Clean pads, quiet pads and brake performance?

The life of your rotors/discs depend on the thickness of the remaining meat. There is a minimum wear thickness which needs to be respected. I don't recall what the minimum figure is, but if I remember well it is stamped on the rotor hub.

Just checked my files and I have a photo with the min marked 30.4mm

Thanks Daniel.

I checked my records and previous owner did change pads before I bought my car, these were less than half worn when I installed my Portersfield pads.

My rotors are now on the third set brake pads

Get them measured to be on the safe side. 3 sets of pads with the same rotor is very good going. Guess you don't brake hard very often.
However, I think it could be time to change the discs with new pads.

looks like my Porterfields don't wear my rotors very much?
pads are gentle to rotors.
with my fingah I caressed the edge around my rotors and the outer lip was very consistent.

when rotors are worn on the outer side from brake pads there should be a deep sharp edge sticking out making rotor surface thinner
