Failing - Fixing point - Transverse Control ARM from C36 AMG 1996
A few months ago, my C36 AMG 1996 starts making some weird metal noise coming from the right front suspension...
So, I went to a friend that owns a suspension repair shop in order to figure out what was going on with it...
After so many possibilities, we found out could be this TRANSVERSE CONTROL ARM (RIGHT)...and I decided to REPLACE IT, instead of just disassembling it, as it should be done first...
So, when it(CONTROL ARM) came to me by mail, I went there again to replace by the new one and when we disassembled the right front suspension, we noticed that the point of attachment(fixation point - sorry about my english - I´m just don´t know those technical terms), so....the point of attachment was simply ruined...
Does anyone knows or had this kind of problem on W202 type?
Here are some pictures of what I´ve said above:
failing fixing point
this isn't a 'washer', but a part of the metal frame of the car...
washers reinforcing those points
So, from now on, I´ll have to weld the 'broken part' with large washers on both sides (internal/external) just to be sure that on that specific point it'll be REINFORCED with those washers and MIG WELDING...
Now I'm wondering if MERCEDES BENZ didn't 'realize' that when choose 'NOT REINFORCE' that specific point of the TRANSVERSE CONTROL ARM ???
best wishes for everyone.
PEDRO ALEXANDRE (from BRASILIA - BRAZIL)
The big deal about this issue, is exactly that...the metal frame is NOT REINFORCED to be "THE FIXING" point of it...
Now, I'll REINFORCE IT, using large washers over there, welding it with MIG type...then...I'll post some pictures of BEFORE AND AFTER that..
thanks anyway...
