Anyone replaced their voltage regulator without removing alternator? Everything I read says
you have to remove the alternator which is
a bit of a pain. Nothing seems to be easy on these cars.

Yeah, squeezing a V8 in a W202 is rather tight, so makes access to certain parts a bit fiddly

I've done it with out removing the alternator, it was a Bosch part but the repair lasted me about 2 months before I needed a new altenator. Good luck with the repair! Also if you can move the bushings the altenator sits in the altenator is very easy to remove from underneath the car

Thanks Brad. Actually everything is working but I though with my mileage replacing it might be good preventive maintenance. Getting tired of these expensive shop bills. Had car in shop recently
for what I thought were 2 minor repairs, turns out being $1600 out the door. One shop quoted me 5 hours
labor for replacing the crank sensor, I did it myself in
45 minutes.

If it's not giving you trouble I wouldn't mess with it but mine went out at 187k miles just to give you an idea of how long it lasted me. Working on my c43 is the best, it's what led me to be a Mercedes apprentice 😅
