Another 1996 C36 Gone!
Hi Everyone,
As the title reads, one of my two C36's was recently written off due to someone t-boning my in an intersection. it was the higher mileage one that had 159K Kms on it. It was one of only 25 in Canada and now less than a handful remain. It needed many minor dents/dings removed, new paint and the wheels needed refinishing. For those of you who aren't up to date with the latest market value, these cars have skyrocketed in value over the past two years. My insurance company's initial offer was great but, I was able to squeeze a little more out of them. Taxes in, I received $16,034 CAD for the car.
I kept the factory AMG rear wing with third stoplight, all four carbon look b pillar trim pieces that are in mint condition with zero fading or scratches as well as the genuine C36 embroidered floor mats minus the driver's mat as I purchased the vehicle without it.
I ended up purchasing this 2006 CLS55 with 94K Kms with the insurance payout. After taxes, I paid $166 CAD out of pocket so it was basically a straight trade. The CLS has had zero accidents, all maintenance records, only two owners, garage kept and has only seen rain a dozen times. It has never been modded in any way. It is obsidian black with cashmere beige interior. Don't get me wrong as I love the car but, I'll never part with my C43.

thats too bad buddy. c36 is definitely a serious piece of history. will you keep an eye on the auctions and try to buy it back? good luck with the new car, looks like fun.

The CLS55 is a great/fun car but, in my opinion, it lacks that special character when compared to a C36/C43. I was never one to like all the bells and whistles that a car offers. I've always been a fan of raw power with regular mechanical gauges.

I guess the smart or i phones are more important than what is going on in front of your vehicle
