Bought a charger today.
In the box was supplied a quick fit connector.
Has anyone fitted a charger connector to the black box in the engine room so you can charge the battery, not using crocodile clamps on battery in trunk?
Had to borrow RAW's photo to highlight the black box
I just attached the quick fit connector to the battery terminals in the trunk. No real technical reason to put it else where, closer to the battery must be more efficient, IMO. Who knows what’s between the box under hood and the battery? Not me.
ps. It’s easy to turn off the trunk light if you leave it open overnight. There’s a pull function on the switch.
Same with me. Trickle charger during the winter months connected to the battery in the back. I use the black box connector to get a feed to the circuit if the battery is dead, disconnected and trunk lid closed. Have used this several times in the past.
Today I installed my quick-fit connector in the black box.
There are two pins in the black box, both seem to read positive as I measured with a multimeter.
I connected the quick-fit connector to positive pin on the left side inside black box and the negative wire was bolted under the washer fluid container to a ground where other 5 ground wires are connected.
I hope this modification doesn't fry any electronics?
What does MB-technicians say about this modification?
Is it safe or not to charge battery from this position in the engine bay?

Inside the black box there's three connectors, 1 pin and two terminals.
To the left one of the terminals have 2 thinner wires, the second terminal on the right has a thicker wire.
I assume both are positive?
