C36 front end light clunking noise - solved.

My C36 has demonstrated a light/subtle but definite clunking noise from the front end over uneven surfaces, more noticeable at low to medium speeds. Nothing dramatic but it was annoying. Not sure how long its been doing that, I've only had the vehicle a couple months now.

First, the things that it "could" have been but didn't fix it: (I replaced these items for reasons aside from the sound, but was always hoping to maybe hit two birds with one stone)
- motor/trans mounts
- front shocks
- adjust front wheel bearings

No dice. I thought maybe LCA ball joints or LCA bushings but both had been replaced 2009ish.

Decided to replace the sway bar (stabilizer bar) bushings - BINGO!

Glorious silence and the vehicle feels that much tighter/more solid. By the way, used the proper MB bushings, only about $15 a side.

I was wondering if you know about the ones in the middle, are they the same part numbers as the ones on the outside? (that connect the sway bar to the LCA?)

They are a different part. I don't have the number handy but will try to get it to you later today.

Middle ones are 124 323 57 85.
At least that is what it is for a 1996 C36. Not sure if a C43 is different...
