Springs questions

OK guys, I am having some work done to my 99 and wanted it raised a little to get a better ride height than on the ground. My car supposed came with the H&R Super Sport Springs, but when my mechanic took them off, he told me they were heated and cut stock springs, even had the stock numbers on them. Now, I figured that I could put Vogtland spring on which come with a 1.4" drop (H&R Sports are not available in the USA right now). He got the springs in and said they were 2" shorter than the ones that were on my car. I just can't believe that is the case as they are only supposed to provide a 1.4" drop to begin with. Did I get the wrong springs from Pelican maybe? He is about 40 minutes away from me and I am busy during working hours so it is tough to get out there. Here is a pic of my car as she sat with what I was told were H&R Super Sport springs, I can't imagine that the car will be lower with the Vogtlands, will it? As you can see below the tires were already in rubbing territory and needed to be replaced.

Are you running 19"? If so you must have a very harsh ride

How about you post pics of the springs that are on your car? Stock springs are black.

H&r are blue

Vogtlands are maroon.

The only explanation to this is if you have 19s.

Also you can use spring pads. There are five sizes available for a w202. You can fine tune the ride height with those

I am getting rid the 19" wheels in the pics. I am putting on the stock 17" monoblocks. The ride wasn't really too bad unless you hit a bad pothole, but still not ideal. I am trying to change it to a better ride.

the springs that were on the car were black Stockers that had been modified, he could still see the part numbers on them, and I bought the Vogtlands, which he has now, and he says they are 2" shorter than the modified stockers. There are no H&R springs, just that they were said to be on the car.

IMO You should try the stock monoblocks on first and see how it sits and rides then you could make a better decision
i would go for 18s but your choice I’m suprised to hear H&R springs are out of stock I’m glad I have a extra set of super sports just in case
keep us posted would like to see the end results
