High Mileage C36 AMG Current Value?

Hi Everyone,

C36 local to me I’m interested in that is a running project with 200k miles.

96’ with the 4 speed, runs and drives well, idles choppy when cold with known Evap leak code that needs to be traced. Lots of little imperfections but overall body and paint are good. Timing cover leak present and diff leak present. Headlights also cracked. Headliner sag. Does have a new wiring harness but doesn’t have all the correct plugs for the C36 so most likely was modified C280 harness? Has original wheels with mono block spare too but they will need refinishing. Overall good bones but a lot to be loved to bring back to spec...
Anyway, looking for a cruiser project and I’ve really wanted to get back into a W202. C36 has always been on my list and this one popped up private sale.
What is a fair price to those that know better than I their values, for this example?

thank you!

IMO I believe these w202 AMGs are on the rise so if you like it and feel like you could do most of the work yourself $6000
tp $8000 would be in the ballpark if it was lower miles under 140 then I’d say $10 to $12k

Went back to drive it and look at it in-depth and test all systems...
the owner and I are $300 apart on price of what I think is fair for the condition and mileage, and while I may be willing to go up that amount, it NEEDS a lot of love like I said and I don't think any other local buyers will even attempt to make an offer on it close to mine...

Pros:
- head gasket is solid, no leaking from right rear of engine and the block test checked out with no exhaust gases detected in coolant.
- took it on freeway, downshifts nicely and drives nice besides the feeling of old bushings being present at time, expected.
- it's all there for the most part, most expensive item it's missing is the fog lights
- nothing bad on history I have found through dealerships and vin, all the history checks out.
- all fluids look good (love that the 722.4 has a dipstick!)
- underbody in good overall condition

Cons:
- small rust spot discovered in trunk near driver side tail light, could easily be scrubbed down and converted.
- while testing lock system with remote, driver side rear door became stuck and would not open.
- close look at paint, needs front fender and front bumper refinished.
- wheels need to be refinished
- mid section of exhaust shielding is falling apart
- missing fog lights
- driver side hood nozzle for windshield washer broken
- few broken/missing interior plastics
- mismatched/old tires
- codes present P0411, P0400 (weird thing is they were detected before starting car, then once car was ran, CEL was on but scantool no longer picked up codes...)

I have heard everything from 2k to 10k as an appropriate number for the price of this car... While I do think they are on the rise, that is mostly for low mileage or very clean examples with history.
All of what I see listed is suggesting that if this car was clean without some of the issues present it would be between 5-6k. on BAT, the most recent close example sold for 5500 with 175k and overall much better condition... so I will stick to 3500 as of now...
What I want the car for: Want to document a decent 'restoration' process on my youtube channel and use the car as a cruiser, it is a running driving project but an important piece of history I would love to own.
Any further input appreciated!
