CLK GTR v 911 GT1 v McLaren F1

Carfection just released a series of videos detailing the road going versions of the cars that dominated the FIA GT1 class in the 90's, including the CLK GTR. Crazy to see the same climate controls from a C36 in the cockpit of a nearly $2 million race car for the road. I love the tartan interior on the example in the video. So much Mercedes/AMG goodness from the same time period as our cars. I was fortunate to see one of these in person at the AMG Private Lounge event at Laguna Seca a few years ago. Are you guys/gals big fans of this era of cars? These are probably a close second to a Sauber C11/C9 for me.

Great Post!!! I watched all three of those videos on YouTube last week. Excellent review of a bygone era in high speed motoring. Too bad the track was wet, and the driver was not allowed to push the cars in any serious way. I never realized how cramped the CLK GTR interior was. McLaren F1 is so perfect it makes all other cars stand down, IMO...

Totally agree on the cramped cockpit on the CLK GTR. I have a bit of claustrophobia and I was squirming a bit just watching him get in. It would have been nice to see them on a dry track. I'm always disappointed when cars that I love go out on the Top Gear test track and it is wet too. The British tend to make the best motoring shows, but they also seem to always be battling that UK weather.

Watched all three. I was left disappointed.

Dont get me wrong its nice to see content on the clkgtr but we mostly saw mediocre driving with barely any shots showing the car and its details and quarks
