C36 Heating problem?

C36 Heating problem?
I have a 1996 C36 with 3890 miles and I took it to the dealer because of a cooling sensor which they replaced. It took 9 days to get the part and fix the sensor. I drove the car home (6 miles) and when I went back down to the garage 3 1/2 hours later the engine was still hot to the touch. Is this normal or am I just not used to this heat. Any help would be appreciated even as how to check cooling system. Also I'm going to replace tires simply because they are 8 years old. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks to all for any advice.

I am not sure how hard you drive it before you parked it..?
plus I am not sure how was the weather (temp, humidity)..
but after 3 hr it should still be hot but not that untouchable hot..

wow. how did that happen? 3000 miles? virgin engine
if it's been out and hot, it'll be hot for a long time. was hot when i had finished washing and drying

Thanks to you both for the replies. I bought this car new in 1996 from dealer. It was my retirement present to myself along with a 2001 320SLK which now has 1150 miles. Have wanted to trade both for new MB but with what dealer will give me in trade I decided to keep them both. Being a retired school teacher I bit off more than I should but both cars are paid for and I guess they will continue to be Sunday drivers. Any suggestions for tires for the C36. Thanks to all. that's pretty sweet.
as for tires, always the best...given the car's nature. i prefer s-03 (japanese)..but the goodyear f1 gs-d3 (which i think is american) is getting good reviews, as is michelin's pilot sport ps2 (french, but a bit expensive considering how weak dollar is compared to euro).

This summer I switched from Bridgestones to Michelin Pilot PS2. They were expensive, but so far they are as good or better than the Bridgestones and have a better wear rating. By the way, my '96 C36 has 65K on it and I loved every minute.
