Tracking down my grandfather's 1996 C36 AMG, last seen in Boise, ID.
I've decided recently that I want to locate and buy a 1996 C36 AMG that had been in my family from 2003 - 2013. Vin number WDBHM36E3TF322207. CarFax shows that it had been last registered in Boise, Idaho in December 2021. I've contacted the last shop listed in the CarFax to have serviced the car, and they said that the only thing they could do is pass along my phone number to the owner but the last time they had the car in their shop was January 2019.
This is most undoubtedly a long shot, but with around 300 '96 C36's made for the USA, with maybe a third being black, I've got a 1% chance that any North American market 040 1996 car being the one, not accounting for the ones that have been wrecked and destroyed over 25+ years. In 2013 @108k miles the car had an Eclipse head unit, lowering springs (I believe H&R), and a club badge in the grill. Last mileage was 121K, so there's a fair chance the car is still recognizable by some of these details.
