Replaced conductor plate, now slips when cold.
99 C43, 322k miles.
Transmission has always been bulletproof. But conductor plate symptoms finally started to show. Every once in a while it would be stuck in 2nd gear (sometimes 3rd) until I restarted the car. I've dealt with it like this for 2+ years because it happens so rarely it wasn't really a big deal. Mostly happened in traffic where 2nd gear is fine anyway.
Finally got around to it, replaced the conductor plate and electrical connector. Added fresh fluid (almost 5 quarts) and used dip stick to get the level right (with car at 80C and idling).
Now, it slips when cold. If the engine/trans warm up even just a little, it behaves fine. If I drive it like a granny you don't see the problem. But as I was leaving my neighborhood and merging into traffic in the morning (cold engine) I had to give it just about 1/2 throttle and the engine just revved like it was in neutral. Let off the throttle and gave it 1/4 throttle and it returned to normal. Have tested and retested, problem repeats but only for the first few minutes while engine/trans are warming up.
Possible my new conductor plate is bad?
